The storms have passed and the forecast calls for sunny days this weekend so why not take the family out for some inexpensive fun. Here are my picks:


NOT FREE, BUT GOOD: 1. Dallas Kids Expo: Returning for the fourth year of family fun, Dallas Kids Expo will be jammed-packed with exhibitors and services, educational seminars for parents and kids, and lots of entertainment. Bob the Builder™ performs his interactive Sing-Along Performance at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. He'll also be available to pose with kids and families for photos. Are you an expecting or new mom? Stop by Oh Baby! Alley with workshops that include "Five Baby Signs to Save Your Sanity" and "Potty Training Before Age 2."

Cost:  Pre-Sale Adult tickets, $7 (offers ends Friday, March 23); Regular Admission Adult, $12 per day (Cash only at event); Children 12 and younger, $1 or FREE with a jar of peanut butter. All proceeds from kid tickets will benefit the North Texas Food Bank. Admission includes all non-premium activities + the Bob the Builder™show

2. Wild West Double Feature: Consider America’s cultural depiction of the West through visual art and cinema while watching the family friendly, Academy Award winning film Rango (PG; 2011), followed by the spaghetti western classic The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (NR; 1966). Come for one of the films or stay for both!
Good to know: Because seating is limited, reservations are required. Call 817-989-5030 or e-mail to reserve your spot. Rango will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by refreshments. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly will begin at 1 p.m.

3. Wild West Watauga Fest: Take the family to enjoy live music from The Bright, The Matt Kimbrow Band, The Crawfish Band and more! At Watauga Depot, there will be arts, crafts and food vendors. Take the kids to Little Rustler Station, where they can enjoy a Train Ride, Mechanical Bull, Gyroscope and inflatables. There will also be stagecoach rides and a palm tree climbing wall!
Good to know: Don't miss the armadillo races that begin at noon.

4. ARTsPARK: Cultural organizations from Dallas, Collin, Denton and Tarrant counties come together to encourage artistic endeavours. Booths will be located throughout the mall from Victoria's Secret to Barneys New York. In EastCourt located near Dillard's Shakespeare Dallas will present "Speak the Speech: Shakespeare and the Spoken Word" and Plano Children's Theatre will present selections from family-friendly musicals. In NorthCourt, located between Nordstrom and Macy's, there will be performances by Texas Ballet Theater Dallas School, Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico, the Dallas Zoo, the Italian Club of Dallas' "I Colori Italiani" dancers, Soprano Jennifer Youngs accompanied by pianist Julien Reed from The Dallas Opera, and the Junior Performance Ensemble from Dallas Black Dance Theatre Academy.
Good to know: Artists from the Creative Arts Center of Dallas will present activities for children and families near Macy's Court noon to 4 p.m.

Date Night Alert! 5. Mad Men Screenings: Starting Sunday, Dallas' Vintagemobile -- a vintage clothing boutique on wheels -- is partnering with the Dallas Angelika theater to present free screenings on the new season of "Mad Men." Grab a babysitter, spruce up and head out with your spouse for a night on the town. Get there early! Tickets are on a first-come, firs-served basis.
Good to know: The Vintagemobile will be giving away gift cards and other events at the screenings.

When: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday, March 25; Future episodes will air at 9 p.m.
