I recently took a restorative yoga class in Grand Prairie that was just what I needed after a long, stressful work week. It's so fitting that on Labor Day, moms and dads can try their hands at this rejuvenating exercise form for free! It's just one of the many free (and cheap) events happening in DFW this weekend:

1. DFW Free Day of Yoga: It's Labor Day, which means you don't have to work. So, why don't you treat yourself to a day to reconnect with your mind, body and spirit. Free classes will be offered at more than 170 participating studios in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
Good to know: You can also participate in the two kick-off events this weekend: In Dallas, the kick-off festival will be at Crow Collection of Asian Art, 2010 Flora Street Dallas, TX 75201, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3. In Fort Worth, the kick-off fest will be at Fort Worth Water Gardens
1502 Commerce Street Fort Worth, TX 76102, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 4.
Good to know: RSVP for a class if it is requested by studio and arrive early. Bring a mat, towel or blanket and water. Dress comfortably. Practice on an empty stomach.
Recommended ages: All
When: Monday, September 5
Where: Participating DFW Yoga studios (see website for classes)
Cost: FREE!

2. Free breakfast: Reserve a free breakfast entree from Chick-fil-A! Go to the web site to choose an entree, location and pick-up time. You can choose from a number of items including the chicken biscuit, breakfast burrito and multigrain oatmeal.
Good to know: You must make reservations in advance and present the coupon when you pick up your order.
Recommended ages: All
When: 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6 through Saturday, September 10
Where: Participating Chick-fil-A locations
Cost: FREE!

3. Fashion Night Out: Get a babysitter (or maybe your hubby can help?) and grab your girlfriends for an evening of perusing the latest trends in fashion. You can also enjoy music, free samples, demos and food & wine tastings.
Good to know: Check in at Center Court for event guide and passport to shopping where you can register to win exclusive Fashion's Night Out merchandise just by visiting 6 or more stores. The first 150 attendees to register in person will receive an exclusive Fashion's Night Out swag bag!
Recommended ages: Mom's night out!
When: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8
Where: North East Mall, 1101 Melbourne St. Ste 1000, Hurst, TX 76053

LAST NIGHT! 4. Friday Fireworks: Feast your eyes on a 12-minute fireworks display that can be seen from any Lake Grapevine park.
Good to know: Best viewing locations are your favorite lake parks or on top of the parking garage at the Gaylord Texan Resort for the Garage Rock Out Party.
Recommended ages: All
When: 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2

NOT FREE, BUT CHEAP! 5. $20 Great Wolf Lodge Day Pass: For a limited time, you can get a special $20 one-day waterpark pass to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. This is a great deal because normally you would have to pay for a night's stay (about $200-$600 per night) to have waterpark privileges. The best part of the deal is that proceeds go to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Good to know: Passes are good between September 6-November 18 (with some blackout dates) and can only be redeemed at the Grapevine location. Not valid on Saturdays or Sundays before 2 p.m.
