Friday Freebies: Eggscellent fun for the family

In the next few weekends, there will be plenty of eggcellent opportunities for your children to chase that elusive rabbit and hunt for the golden egg. Here's just a few of my favorite, free Easter Egg Hunts in the Dallas/Fort Worth area: 

Sunday, April 10
Easter in the Park in Southlake: Enjoy egg hunts, inflatables, live entertainment, crafts, cotton candy and more!
Good to know: No parents on the field during the egg hunts. Hunts divided by age: 2-4, 2:15 p.m.; 5-7, 3:15 p.m.; 8-10, 4:15 p.m.
Recommended ages: 10 and younger
When:  1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, April 10
Where: Bicentennial Park, 450 W. Southlake Blvd. or 400 N White Chapel Blvd., Southlake
Cost: FREE!

Saturday, April 16
Allen's Eggcellent Family Adventure: Children “trick-or-treat” Easter style. Tables are hosted by local community organizations and businesses and the children visit each table and collect eggs and valuable information for the participating organizations.  Other activities include games, crafts, a bounce house and face painting.
Good to know: Bring your own Easter basket; pics with Easter Bunny available
Recommended ages: All 
When:  9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 16
Where: Allen Civic Plaza at City Hall, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75013
Cost: FREE!

Easter Egg Extravaganza at Newman Village: Bring the whole family and enjoy a stroll through Newman Village. Listen to the music of Dove Award nominee Kerrie Roberts, visit the CareNow petting zoo, have a family picnic on the Village Plaza grounds. Most importantly, don’t forget to bring the Easter baskets for the for 4,800 eggs. Kids can also enjoy face painting, a bounce house and balloons.
Good to know: Easter Egg Hunt is for two age groups: 2-5, 10:50 a.m. and 5-8, 11:30 a.m. Fuddruckers will be onsite selling hamburgers.

Easter Egg Hunt in Highland Village: Join the fun, activities include an egg hunt and the appearance of the Easter Bunny.
Recommended ages: All
When: 10 a.m., Saturday, April 16
Where: Unity Park, 2200 Briarhill Blvd., Highland Village
Cost: FREE!

Candy-Free Hoppin’ Good Egg Hunt in Colleyville: The candy-less egg hunt is divided into age with prizes that will be sugar free.
Good to know: Bunny photos will be available for a small fee.
Recommended ages: 12 and younger
When:  1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, April 16
Where: The Village at Colleyville, Colleyville Boulevard (Highway 26) at Main Street, Colleyville

Easter in the Park: This Easter Egg Hunt will have more than 25,000 eggs and prizes. Other activities include bounce houses, train rides, a petting zoo, glitter tattoos, balloon artists and live entertainment featuring Critterman and local NRH dance groups. Photo opp alert! Bring you camera for a pic with the Easter bunny or take a family portrait with a beautiful Easter scene.
Good to know: The Easter egg hunt will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.

When:  10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 16

Saturday, April 23
Texas-Sized Easter Celebration & Egg Hunt: The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on the lawns of the Historic Livestock Exchange Building and Stockyards Visitors Center. Additional activities are held inside Stockyards Station and along East Exchange Avenue. Activities include pictures with the Easter Bunny (bring your own camera), face painting, balloons, petting zoo, Fort Worth Herd Cowcamp.
Good to know: Don't miss the cattle drive at 4 p.m.
Recommended ages: 12 and younger
When:  Noon to 4 p.m., Saturday, April 23

Easter Eggstravaganza: Kids can enjoy a variety of activities including bounce house, arts and crafts and a magic show before egg hunting begins at 11 a.m. in Quakertown Park. The park will be divided by age groups for the egg hunt, and signs will guide participants to the designated areas. 
Good to know: Inexpensive concessions will be available. Prior to the egg hunt, the park will be closed for set-up.
Recommended ages: 12 and younger
When:  9 a.m., Saturday, April 23 (Egg hunt begins at 11 a.m.)
