FREE TREES FOR ARLINGTON RESIDENTS: In conjunction with NBA Cares, Arlington Parks and Recreation Department will lead an effort to plant 2,010 trees over the course of 100 days leading up to the NBA All-Star game on Feb. 14, 2010. As part of this partnership, Arlington’s forestry program, Let’s Enhance Arlington’s Forestry or L.E.A.F, will distribute approximately 1,200 trees to area businesses and individuals. Applications are now being accepted from individuals and businesses who want to participate in the program. Trees will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. To apply for a tree, visit www.naturallyfun.org for an application. FREE HEALTHY HOLIDAY CLASS PASS: Try one of more than  80 group exercise classes such as Step, Zumba, Cycle, Yoga at one of the three Arlington YMCA branches.
Good to know: The pass can be used multiple times during the Class Pass period. Each time you come to a class, you can enter into a raffle for a free three-month family membership. If you join between November 15 and December 31, 2009, the joining fee will be waived (a savings of $75!).

Storytime with Santa Claus at NorthPark Center:
Children of all ages are invited to gather with Santa Claus in front of his new Tudor-style cottage, complete with thatched roof, half timbers and vaulted ceiling (located at Macy's Court), for a very special storytime.  Children's imaginations soar as Santa Claus uses the art of storytelling to share personal accounts of hard-working elves, flying reindeer, Mrs. Claus and around-the-world travels on Christmas Eve.

Scrooge Puppet Theatre at NorthPark: Charles Dickens' Ebenezer Scrooge comes to life through the magic of puppetry.  And if you think you know the story, Scrooge is here to show and tell you otherwise!  Celebrating his 33rd year at NorthPark Center, the grumpy yet wonderfully delightful Scrooge, played by John Hardman of Le Theatre de Marionette, brings audiences a humorous and interactive adaptation of the central character from "A Christmas Carol." Kids can write their letters to Santa at the activity area, where there will also be fun crafts. Don't forget to visit Santa!
Good to know: Customers can get a free 4x6 photo with Santa and his reindeer (photo and gift packages will also be available). If the line gets too long, you can grab a Bass Pass to set your appointment with Santa. Through December 24

Lighting of Hannukah Menorah at Galleria Dallas: Galleria Dallas recognizes many important holiday traditions including the lighting of the first candle of the Galleria Dallas Hanukkah Menorah, which towers above 15 feet, and will be located on Level 1 near Sephora. Rabbi Dubrawsky from the Chabad of Dallas will lead the event.

Latino Cultural Center's Posada: Join the Latino Cultural Center in celebrating the Latin American tradition of Posadas. In Latin America, a "Posada" represents the journey Mary and Joseph took on their way to Bethlehem. As part of the tradition, the community sings traditional Latin American carols - stopping at various locations seeking "shelter." Procession will begin at Central Square Park at the corner of Swiss Ave. and Oak St. at 4 p.m. At the end of the procession, carolers will be welcomed to the LCC Plaza by Matachines dancers.
