Join Mom2Mom Irving Arts Center's Holiday Open House! Come by the mom2mom booth to spin our prize wheel to win items such as tote bags, mugs, DVDs and much more! The sights and sounds of the Harlem Renaissance will fill the Irving Arts Center for the 17th-annual Holiday Open House. Enjoy art projects inspired by 1920s and 1930s artists, ride the "A" Train in the Sculpture Garden, create greeting cards, watch performances, take photos with Santa, snack on complimentary cookies and so much more!
Good to know: End the evening with a free performance featuring Tapestry Dance in The Souls of Our Feet: A Celebration of American Tap Dance, at 7:30 p.m. in Carpenter Performance Hall. Watch as 16 flying feet take the stage in a tap spectacular! Featuring tap masters Acia Gray and Arthur Duncan from the Lawrence Welk Show. Doors open at 7 p.m., first-come, first-seated.

FREE TREES FOR ARLINGTON RESIDENTS: In conjunction with NBA Cares, Arlington Parks and Recreation Department will lead an effort to plant 2,010 trees over the course of 100 days leading up to the NBA All-Star game on Feb. 14, 2010. As part of this partnership, Arlington’s forestry program, Let’s Enhance Arlington’s Forestry or L.E.A.F, will distribute approximately 1,200 trees to area businesses and individuals. Applications are now being accepted from individuals and businesses who want to participate in the program. Trees will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. To apply for a tree, visit www.naturallyfun.org for an application. FREE HEALTHY HOLIDAY CLASS PASS:
Try one of more than  80 group exercise classes such as Step, Zumba, Cycle, Yoga at one of the three Arlington YMCA branches.
Good to know: The pass can be used multiple times during the Class Pass period. Each time you come to a class, you can enter into a raffle for a free three-month family membership. If you join between November 15 and December 31, 2009, the joining fee will be waived (a savings of $75!).

Storytime with Santa Claus at NorthPark Center:
Children of all ages are invited to gather with Santa Claus in front of his new Tudor-style cottage, complete with thatched roof, half timbers and vaulted ceiling (located at Macy's Court), for a very special storytime.  Children's imaginations soar as Santa Claus uses the art of storytelling to share personal accounts of hard-working elves, flying reindeer, Mrs. Claus and around-the-world travels on Christmas Eve.

Scrooge Puppet Theatre at NorthPark: Charles Dickens' Ebenezer Scrooge comes to life through the magic of puppetry.  And if you think you know the story, Scrooge is here to show and tell you otherwise!  Celebrating his 33rd year at NorthPark Center, the grumpy yet wonderfully delightful Scrooge, played by John Hardman of Le Theatre de Marionette, brings audiences a humorous and interactive adaptation of the central character from "A Christmas Carol." North Texas Beat: African Village Night: Live African drummers and dancing hosted by KUMAASI African Ensemble. You can bring your drum and join the circle.

Kids can write their letters to Santa at the activity area, where there will also be fun crafts. Don't forget to visit Santa!

Drawing at The Modern: The program will be led by artist who will take participants through informal drawing exercises in relation to works in the Modern’s collection. Bring a sketchbook and pencils or purchase materials from The Modern Shop. Attendance is limited to 20 participants, so arrive early to sign up at the information desk to ensure your space.
