It’s great to see our favorite hometown American Idol still poised with that Southern sense of gratitude.
Fourteen years after winning the inaugural season of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson honored the reality TV singing competition with this tweet on Sunday: “14 yrs ago 2day @AmericanIdol opened a door w/such amazing opportunities & experiences 4 me! I am 4ever grateful & blessed! #heresto14more”
Who could forget Clarkson’s breakthrough Idol win, which she book-ended with a touching rendition of her song, “Piece by Piece” during the show’s final season. The song also hit home for Clarkson when she performed at Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas in 2015. She told the Texas crowd: “I am not gonna get through this song.”
Never miss a local story.
That single made her the first Idol to contestant to earn 100 Billboard No. 1s.
The three-time Grammy winner gave birth to her second child in April, a son named Remington, with hubby Brandon Blackstock. In June, the Fort Worth-born and Burleson-bred pop superstar signed with Atlantic Records. She also unveiled a new website, KellyClarksonLive.com, where fans can get free downloads of some of her songs on the last Friday of each month.
