If you’ve got budding movie buffs in your family, this list is for you. Here are some DFW-area summer movie events (Read all the way to the bottom for a chance to win a family four-pack of tickets to the brand new Studio Movie Grill in Colleyville!):•
Movie Nights in the Sundance Square Plaza
Bring your own chairs and blankets to watch free films under the stars at Sundance Square Plaza. Come early to win prizes and support local food vendors (No outside food or drink allowed). Movies scheduled include Mary Poppins and Back to the Future.
When: Movies begin at dusk around 8:30 p.m./9:00 p.m. Wednesdays through July 30.

Sunset Cinema at Amon Carter Museum
The Amon Carter Museum is offering a free outdoor film series called “Sunset Cinema.” You can pack a picnic dinner and bring blankets to watch the series on the museum lawn.
When: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Thursday, June 26; July 31. The lawn opens at 6 p.m. and if you arrive early, you can enjoy a tour of the museum from 7 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Films begin at 8:30 p.m.

Summer Movie Clubhouse at Cinemark

Summer Film Series at The Perot Museum of Nature and Science
The Perot Museum of Nature and Science has recently partnered with National Geographic on programming. One of the benefits of the partnership is the inventory of long and short 2D and 3D films that will be made available to the museum. Check out the latest Nat Geo offering Pandas: The Journey Home or one of the other short films.

Cost: Admission to the theater is $5 for a short film (20 minutes) and $8 for a long film (40 minutes) for adults, students, seniors and children. For members, admission to the theater is $5 (short film) and $6 (long film). Children under 2 are free.•
When was the last time you watched a movie at a drive-in? Did you know there is now one open in Fort Worth showing first-run films? They offer cool double-features including Maleficent and Godzilla!
When: Open 7 days a week at 6 p.m., showing a double feature on all three screens every night.

In-lobby Child PlayCenter at Harkins Southlake 14
Need a date night but can’t find a baby sitter during summer time months? No worries at Harkins Theatre in Southlake. Harkins’ exclusive in-lobby children’s PlayCenter offers a supervised, engaging environment where children ages 3 through 8 can play games, read books, enjoy toys, and of course, watch movies, just steps from where Mom and Dad will be watching. PlayCenter staff members are trained professionals who work exclusively in the PlayCenter. They are background checked and fingerprinted. Walk-ups are welcome and reservations are recommended.
