Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine is celebrating World Turtle Day, which was May 23, with a week of activities.

Through May 30, guests can participate in Turtle Fest and get up close and personal with resident endangered sea turtles including green sea turtles Hope and Boomer and Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle Squirt. The aquarium is also anticipating the arrival of Eddie, a new green sea turtle.

Last year, Sea Life opened its Turtle Rescue Center, a sanctuary for endangered sea turtles that are not able to be released back into the wild because of injuries. The rescue center includes display tanks that were specially designed to the depth the injured turtles are able to safely dive, and educational information on conservation and turtle rescue.

Activities during Turtle Fest week include a sea turtle scavenger hunt, coloring activities and “Turtle Talks” with Sea Life aquarists who will discuss the center’s conservation efforts.
