In 2011, Disney World introduced interactive line queues at some attractions in Magic Kingdom, including the Haunted Mansion, to make waiting in line bearable.

The queues are just one of many technological advancements that Disney is working on to speed up wait times and make the amusement park experience more enjoyable for families.

Over the next several months, Disney will be rolling out a collection of tools called MyMagic+ that will give Disney World guests more opportunities to customize and personalize their visit.

Here’s a quick look at what’s in the works:

My Disney Experience website and mobile app: The MyMagic+ tools will center on the mobile app ( see review), which allows guests to plan their trip, book dining reservations and reserve times for rides with the new FastPass+. Once at the park, they can use their smartphone to change their plans or make additional bookings.

FastPass+: An enhanced FastPass system, FastPass+, will allow guests to book guaranteed ride times for shows and attractions even before setting foot in the park.

Magic Band: This customizable wrist band will serve as a visitor’s Disney hotel room key, theme park ticket, access to FastPass+ selections, PhotoPass card and optional payment account.
