A Dallas man was in custody Thursday, accused of beating to death his girlfriend's 20-month-old son whom he had been baby-sitting for just a few minutes last week in their Dallas home, police said.
The toddler, Trey Jenkins, died July 20 at Children's Medical Center of Dallas from blows to his chest and abdomen, according to an autopsy by the Dallas County medical examiner's office.
Dallas police arrested Alexdener Roberson, 18, on Wednesday. He was in a Dallas jail with bail set at $1 million.
Roberson faces a charge of capital murder, Dallas police said in a news release Thursday.

Trey's mother told police that she had left her son in Roberson's care on July 20 in the 4500 block of Cowan Avenue in Dallas, according to an arrest warrant affidavit released Thursday.
Within minutes after she left, authorities received a 911 call.
Dallas firefighters took the boy to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4 p.m.
Trey's 19-year-old mother told police that her son was in good health when she left the home.
Roberson told authorities that Trey was "real cranky" after his mother left and then became unresponsive during a diaper change.
Roberson cared for the baby for a minimum of 15 minutes before authorities received the 911 call, according to the affidavit.
