FORT WORTH -- North Side High School was locked down for about an hour Thursday afternoon while police hunted for a fugitive who was seen running onto the campus, officials said.
The man had run away from narcotics and zero-tolerance officers and could be seen from a police helicopter running onto the school property about 3:20 p.m.
Students were told that they could not leave, Fort Worth school district spokesman Clint Bond said.
Starting at 3:40, students were released in small groups, overseen by officers on campus. All left by 4:15, police said.

Police continued to search the area and had not reported an arrest by late Thursday.
