Out on the prairie
This is the final weekend for Prairie Fest, a fundraiser for the Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area, which supports education and conservation programs. Festivities include hikes, activity booths and live music. There will also be a juggling class and plenty of open space for play and picnics. After the festival, catch The General, starring Buster Keaton. The film starts at 8:45 p.m.

The Dallas Zoo kicks off summer fun this holiday weekend. There will be live music Friday with Hard Night's Day, a Beatles tribute band. A special presentation of the "Festival of Flight" bird show begins at 6:30 p.m., and some of the zoo's best attractions will be open. On Saturday, visitors can take part in a guided photo safari and attend a nature and animal photography workshop. On Monday, a picnic will take place under tents overlooking the "Giants of the Savannah" exhibit.
