Anyone who might have had contact with a rabid kitten found in a neighborhood south of the new UNT Apogee football stadium should contact state health officials.
A tabby domestic shorthair kitten found in the 1900 block of Azalea Street tested positive for rabies, Denton police said in a news release Friday.
Anyone who had contact with the kitten between Jan. 23 and Feb. 4 should call the Texas Department of State Health Services at 817-264-4922.
The release reminded owners to keep their pets' rabies vaccines up to date and to avoid stray animals. Officials urge anyone who sees an animal that appears ill or behaves oddly to call 817-349-7594. -- Alex Branch
