KELLER -- The principal and assistant principal at Keller Harvel Elementary School have been placed on paid administrative leave while district officials conduct an investigation.
Keller district officials declined to answer questions about the investigation that led them to put Principal Aaron McAdams and Assistant Principal Andrea Wise on leave.
In a letter sent to Keller Harvel parents Dec. 8, Charles Carroll, assistant superintendent of administrative services, said the district has assigned retired Principal Kathleen Vaghy to serve as principal and Kristen Erickson, now assistant principal of South Keller Intermediate, to administer the school while the investigation continues.
"Because this is an active investigation, Keller ISD will refrain from commenting further on the nature of the situation," Carroll said. "But we are committed to helping your child deal with the disruption that could result from a shift in familiar faces walking in and out of classrooms."
Never miss a local story.
He said Vaghy and Erickson will be available to address parental concerns and questions about the disruption. But Carroll urged parents not to discuss the matter with staff members, who have no information.
To help children deal with the situation, parents should share what they know without speculating and allow their children to express their feelings, he said.
Penny Benz assistant superintendent of human relations, said McAdams was hired in August 2010. He served a year as assistant principal at Chisholm Trail Intermediate School before becoming principal of Keller Harvel in August.
Benz said Wise was hired in July 2003.
