The Artie's Playhouse production of The Reindeer Who Saved Christmas, presented in the round, will open Saturday. The story, a twist on the classic Rudolph tale, involves a reindeer named Rudy that grows up in the shadow of the North Pole's favorite reindeer. He is determined to prove that he is good enough to be part of the flying fleet that pulls Santa's sleigh.
When Santa discovers that enthusiasm for Christmas has almost disappeared and the North Pole goes completely dark, Rudy gets to show Santa and the other reindeer exactly what he can do. Also opening this week at the Artisan Theatre is Scrooge the Musical, an adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic. It runs Friday through Dec. 23; performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, along with 3 p.m. Saturday matinees. Tickets are $16 adults, $14 students and seniors, $9 age 12 and younger. Prices drop Monday through Thursday to $12 for ages 13 and older and $7 for 12 and younger.
