Authorities are investigating how a 2-year-old Fort Worth boy visiting Kansas with his 16-year-old father came to be dropped off at a Topeka police station.
Elijah Waggoner, 2, was left at the station Friday shortly after midnight, said Lt. Richard Hundertfund, a watch commander. The child appeared to be healthy.
Elijah had not been reported missing, police said.
Elijah was apparently in Kansas with his father, Leondray M. Sanders Jr., said Kellie Whitehead, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman. Sanders sometimes took his son along when he visited his mother and other relatives in Topeka, Whitehead said.
The Kansas Department of Children and Family Services was expected to help return Elijah to his family in Fort Worth, Hundertfund said.
Police said they have no indication that a crime happened.
