A windfall for travel?
If someone gave you $5,000, would you spend any of the money to travel? Probably, according to a new survey. On average, people would spend $2,150 of the cash on travel, more money than they would use to pay bills, invest or put in a savings account, according to a new study done by the big travel company Travel Leaders. Other findings:
85 percent of those surveyed said they would spend at least part of the money on travel.
13 percent of those would splurge and spend the whole $5,000 on a trip.
When asked if they had to choose between a free trip to Hawaii, New York, Las Vegas or Orlando, 74 percent chose Hawaii, a place many mainland Americans have never been.
