Motorists in far north Fort Worth, Haltom City, Keller, Watauga and other parts of Northeast Tarrant County may have to deal with a serious traffic headache this weekend. North Beach Street will be shut down at Northeast Loop 820 between 8 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday in Haltom City.
It's one of the biggest closures yet in the $2.1 billion North Tarrant Express project, which includes the reconstruction of the 13-mile 820/Texas 121/183 corridor.
That project is expected to continue through mid-2015.
"Closing this section of Beach Street will allow crews to start preparing for reconstruction of the 820 overpass," said Lara Kohl, spokeswoman for Bluebonnet Contractors Llc..
Drivers will be detoured to Haltom Road or Mark IV Parkway, where they can U-turn and continue on the frontage roads -- but probably at a cost of several minutes.
