The dish: Smucker's has launched these individually wrapped frozen waffles to help busy families on the go. They're already sweetened, so no syrup is needed, and you can heat them in the microwave and carry them off in their own little plastic wrap. The maple flavor is delicious, and the other flavors -- cinnamon, chocolate chip and blueberry -- are also tasty. When cooked in the microwave, they seem more like a breakfast muffin than a waffle; done in the toaster, they crisp up a little more. I thought they made an easy breakfast or snack, although they're a little high in calories and sugar, and low in protein. It might take a little maneuvering, too, to get a youngster out the door with these. Our gracious taste-testers (ages 5 and 8) were not impressed by the uneven appearance and didn't understand why they didn't have syrup. But adding syrup to these already sweetened products would really increase the sugar content.
Will I keep it in my freezer? Sometimes.
