Mom is counting on you.
So if you haven’t planned Sunday lunch already, here are some last-ditch ideas to save Mother’s Day:
Grace Fort Worth, the elegant downtown restaurant with both New American cuisine and steaks menu, opens for brunch only on Mother’s Day and will serve egg dishes along with its regular menu.
Prices range from $12 to about $40, and there’s also a new dessert menu; 777 Main St., 817-877-3388, www.gracefortworth.com.
Cacharel Restaurant in Arlington might be the prettiest restaurant west of Dallas. It’s definitely the best French restaurant open Mother’s Day.
Cacharel’s entrees include sliced roast duck, chicken, salmon or an excellent pork chop or beef tenderloin, plus either an apricot souffle with macadamia or the perennial favorite chocolate souffle; three courses, $48.50, 817-640-9981, www.cacharel.net.
For a simple menu and atmosphere, the new Cafe Brazil in Fort Worth offers an extensive selection of crepes, salads, lunches and platters, all a notch nicer than your typical cafe.
Cafe Brazil has a deal for Mom: All moms dining Sunday get a $10 gift card. The Fort Worth location is at 2880 W. Berry St, 817-923-7777, www.cafebrazil.com.
The only winery with brunch space available is Sunset Winery in Burleson, offering a choice of three menus featuring stuffed shrimp, chicken-mushroom crepes or a breakfast casserole; reserve by 5 p.m. Friday, $22-$31, 1535 S. Burleson Blvd., 817-426-1141, www.sunsetwinery.com.
Social Bakehouse Cafe in Arlington is a casual lunch spot with counter service, but it also has a Mother’s Day bakery special.
Red velvet cakes, mocha almond, German chocolate and others are $25 if ordered by Friday.
Moms who dine on Sunday get a free dessert; 546 Lincoln Square, 817-274-4200, SocialBakehouseCafe.com.
And the Kimbell Art Museum Buffet never fails.
This week’s menu features vichyssoise, quiche and a choice of blueberry-carrot cake or mocha-pecan cake; 817-332-8451, ext, 277, www.kimbellart.org/MuseumInfo/Buffet.aspx.
Most hotel restaurants, prime steakhouses, Brazilian steakhouses and Japanese restaurants are also open. Some offer reservations through www.opentable.com.
