FORT WORTH -- A 21-year-old mentally challenged woman who had been reported missing has been located, police said Monday.
Autumn Lee Ware, who police say is mentally and developmentally challenged and autistic, was reported missing on March 13,
According to police, a week after her disappearance Ware contacted her mother from California, saying she was with a man she met online who drove to Texas to pick her up.
"She called her mother from California on Sunday and is OK," said Sgt. Pedro Criado, a police spokesman said. "She was with the man's family."
Police spoke with the man early in their search for Ware but did not learn her whereabouts.
Criado said the case remains under investigation, but the missing person alert has been canceled. -- Marty Sabota
