Two University of Texas at Arlington students were killed Wednesday morning when their SUV hit an overpass pillar on Interstate 30 in Arlington, police reported.
The Lexus sport utility vehicle was westbound in the 1100 block of the interstate about 6:30 a.m. when it struck the pillar at the Davis Street overpass, flipped and got wedged between two pillars, authorities reported.
The passenger, who was trapped in the upside-down vehicle, was identified as Mateo Reyes, 22, of Arlington by the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.
The driver, who was ejected, was identified as Tegene Tadesse, 22, of Arlington.

Lanes of the interstate and the Davis Street bridge were closed for hours.
Both men enrolled at UT-Arlington in fall 2007, according to a university news release.
Tadesse had not declared a major; Reyes was a biology major.
Both were members of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
