The signature fruit is plentiful at today's Parker County Peach Festival.
Abundant rain from January through May produced a bumper crop, said Peggy Hutton, a Weatherford Chamber of Commerce spokeswoman and the wife of Gary Hutton, the county's premier peach grower.
"They're at their peak right now," Hutton said. "Freestones, the most popular peach, are just now available."
The festival, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. downtown, features live music, children's activities, a 42 tournament, and more than 200 arts, crafts and food booths.
Admission is $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger. Free shuttles run from a number of parking lots; see www.peachfestivaltx.com for locations.
To reach Weatherford, take Interstate 20 west to Exit 406, 408 or 409.
