Here’s what’s new in bookstores this week:
▪ A Game for All the Family, by Sophie Hannah (William Morrow, $26.99) — The bestselling author (Woman With a Secret) offers a standalone psychological thriller. Justine leaves a job in London and moves to the country with her family for a new start. Instead, she’s greeted by threatening phone calls. Her daughter, who is friends with a boy who doesn’t exist, is writing a creepy murder mystery set in their home. The game’s afoot.
▪ The Island House, by Nancy Thayer (Ballantine Books, $27) — The bestselling author, who lives on Nantucket, takes readers for another summer season on the island. Courtney, a professor in Kansas City, continues the tradition of summering with BFF and college roommate Robin at her family’s beach house — for one last time? But first she has unfinished business with Robin’s brother — and a surprise suitor in the Midwest.
▪ Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen, by Alison Weir (Ballantine Books, $28) — The bestselling author and historian presents the first of six historical novels in her ambitious new series that focuses on Henry VIII’s wives. Told from Katherine’s point of view, it follows her life from the time she arrives from Spain at age 16, to her marriage to Henry to her time as queen of England. Up next: Katherine’s rival, Anne Boleyn.
