KDFW/Channel 4 announced Thursday morning that it has added Alex Boyér (pronounced “boy-ay”) to its air staff. He’ll be a general-assignment reporter, effective Jan. 4, and will report for various newscasts.
Boyér comes to Fox 4 from KEYE in Austin, where he was the lead prime-time reporter. He has been KEYE since December 2012. He has reporting and anchoring gigs in his past in Fort Meyers, Fla.; Miami; Hartford, Conn.; and Springfield, Mass. He was also a fill-in anchor in Austin, so don’t be surprised if he slides into that role here.
According to his KEYE bio, during his two years in Hartford, Boyér covered the 9-11 attacks and the fatal fire at the Station nightclub in Warwick, R.I., where 100 people were killed and more than 200 were injured when a pyrotechnic display during a show by Great White unexpectedly ignited the foam used for soundproofing the ceiling of the club.
Boyér graduated from the University of Florida with a bachelor of arts in telecommunications news and a bachelor science in sociology. Here’s one sample of his KEYE work.
