▪ “An Evening at Southwest Nature Preserve” promises two hikes and free snacks beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at the preserve, 5201 Bowman Springs Road, Arlington. The refuge’s monthly Canoe Fest is noon-4 p.m. Sunday. $5, $3 for members. All equipment is provided. The event is first come, first served, but you must register for it.
Learn about bats during an “after hours” program at 8 p.m. Thursday ($10 plus admission, $5 members). The Preschool Discovery Club, for ages 3-5, will learn about wildflowers during a class at 10:30 a.m. Friday. It’s $8 per child plus admission.
