In May, the Waco Tribune reported that Fixer Upper stars Chip and Joanna Gaines had purchased Waco’s historic Elite Cafe building with unspecified plans for its future. Now the power couple has announced they are clearing house to make way for a new restaurant set to open in 2017.
Contents from Elite Cafe, including the restaurant’s iconic neon sign, will be auctioned off on-site from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 10. All net proceeds from the auction will be donated to Mission Waco to help with establishing a nonprofit grocery store in North Waco. The event is open to the public and registration to bid is free.
