The Council for Life and Young Leaders for Life host the Run for Life 5K and Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 19, 2014 at SMU Gerald J. Ford Stadium. Now in its fifth year, Run for Life celebrates the gift of adoption and benefits the Gladney Center for Adoption and Buckner Children and Family Services.
In addition to the 5K Race, a Kids Race will also be held. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance to launch the Kid’s Race and lead the Easter Egg Hunt. Overall awards will be given to the top male and female 5K runners and Kid’s Race winners. Awards will also be given to the largest team and the top male and female in seven age brackets.
All participants in the Run for Life 5K Race will run with a disposable computer timing chip attached to one of their running shoes. The chip registers the amount of time the runner takes, to complete the race, from the starting line to the finishing line.
Registration is $35 per person with Race Day registration of $40 per person. The entry fee for a family or team is $60 per family or team of four in early registration or $80 per family or team of four starting April 12. The Kid’s Race is $10 per person for children 12 and under. Race packets may be picked up at Luke's Locker on Mockingbird Lane prior to the race on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18. Participants can register at Luke’s Locker or online at
Run for Life will benefit the Gladney Center for Adoption's Next Step program. Next Step is designed to help women who are in the process of making an adoption plan transition back into the real world after delivery. Gladney arms clients with knowledge, education, practical tools, and confidence to take on the world with a renewed and healthy perspective by focusing on the whole person - mind, body and spirit. It is Gladney’s goal for birth mothers to leave the program well-equipped and poised to take on new opportunities.
