Many of us saw first-hand how the wrath of Mother Nature can destroy a community in a matter of seconds. With our home in Arlington and sirens going off throughout the storm, we are very thankful that the funnel cloud over our home did not touch down. However, with more than 10 tornadoes many people in Arlington, Lancaster, Forney and others who lost their homes and businesses and are left to pick up the destruction this Easter holiday weekend.
If you want to help, here are some quick ways that won’t take you any time or efforts to give.TEXT: Text the words ”REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation towards disaster relief. Donors will see the $10 charge on their monthly statement. For those who want to give more, go to www.redcross.org.
GIVE: Kroger has partnered with many media outlets to provide donations to those in need. Through April 30, 2012, shoppers have the opportunity to participate in a coin box fundraiser, presented by Kroger and NBC 5, at all Kroger stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. To donate, customers can simply give their spare change at the register. Kroger will match customer donations up to $50,000. One hundred percent of the monies collected will benefit the American Red Cross.
