A suspect in the shooting of a 46-year-old man was himself shot and wounded by Dallas police early Tuesday after he reportedly pointed a gun at officers, police said.
Both shooting victims were in fair condition.
The event began when police responded to a shooting call at 9850 Whitehurst about 12:30 a.m., said Lt. Vernon Hale, a Dallas police spokesman. Two men were involved in the shooting of the 46-year-old, who was taken to Baylor Medical Center, Hale said.
Officers tried to stop the suspects' Ford Ranger near Abrams Road and Park Lane, but the 20-year-old driver fled. After crashing, the driver jumped out and pointed his gun at police, Hale said.

Two officers fired, striking the man. He was taken to Baylor.
A second suspect in the shooting had not been found.
