Wait a minute, is that my truck?
While directing traffic during last Saturday night's Edgefest II celebration, Frisco police officer Jerry Varner saw someone driving away in his own maroon Chevrolet pickup.
When the pickup got closer, Varner ordered the driver to stop and get out of his truck, according to Frisco police.
The driver, who was later identified as 22-year-old James Matthew Herring of Grand Saline, placed the truck in reverse and drove off.
Never miss a local story.
Varner, a long distance runner, gave chase.
The pickup nearly struck several vehicles while the suspect tried to get away before he was stopped.
As marked and unmarked police units cornered Herring, he got out of the pickup and attempted to flee on foot, police said.
He was arrested a short time later.
Herring was charged with theft and evading arrest with a vehicle.
The good news, Varner's truck was not damaged in the incident.
