A Kansas man wanted in the November death of his estranged wife in her Euless apartment was arrested in Wichita, Kan., on Thursday, officials reported.
A Tarrant County grand jury indicted Jerome Overstreet, 51, on a capital murder charge on May 29. He is accused of killing his wife, Vikky Overstreet, 51, while trying to sexually assault her in her Euless apartment, according to the indictment.
The cause of death was traumatic asphyxiation, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. Euless police spokesman Lt. John Williams said it appeared that Vikky Overstreet had moved to the apartment after the couple had marital problems.
Overstreet remained in the Sedgwick County Jail on Thursday night, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department Web site.
Logan Kline, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service, told The Associated Press that Jerome Overstreet had used many identities. He had blended into the Wichita community and reported having a job with an aircraft manufacturer, which Kline declined to identify.
