The City Council agreed Tuesday to rename two streets near the new Dallas Cowboys stadium at the team’s request.
The newly constructed portion of Baird Farm Road from Interstate 30 to Division Street would become Legends Way. Rogers Street from Collins Street to Stadium Drive would become Cowboys Way.
But “Legends Way” is just a place marker, Deputy City Manager Trey Yelverton told the council, because team officials may want to name that road after the company that eventually buys the stadium’s naming rights. Documents obtained by the Star-Telegram have indicated that the team has been negotiating with AT&T, but neither the company nor the Cowboys have commented on the deal.
The council is expected to finalize the street name changes later this month.
Never miss a local story.
Mayor Robert Cluck said he has always thought the team would ask to rename some roads around the stadium.
Councilman Robert Rivera said because the Rangers have the “Legends of the Game” museum, changing Baird Farm to Legends would be appropriate.
“It’s a good way to move forward,” he said.
