Students at Texas Christian University were directed to alternative lunch locations Wednesday when the Brown-Lupton Student Center was closed for about two hours while workers repaired a broken gas line.
The student center houses the university's main dining facility, said Lisa Albert, a TCU spokeswoman. Foster Hall, a nearby dormitory, also was closed, Albert said.
"Basically around 11:30 a.m., a bulldozer doing construction on a line north of the student center hit a buried gas line," Albert said.
The buildings, she said, were closed while utility workers repaired the line. Officials from Fort Worth Fire Department were on hand in case they were needed, but the line was fixed at about 2 p.m.
Students who normally eat lunch at Brown-Lupton were directed to other on-campus dining facilities, Albert said.
"And," she added, "there are numerous off-campus options. It was a slight inconvenience that was repaired relatively quickly."
