Tiffany & Co.’s T-rrific New Collection

Sometimes, it takes a woman to shake things up. Consider, for instance, the case of Tiffany & Co., the venerable New York City-based jeweler that’s been creating exquisite keepsakes for 177 years, and which, this month, will launch a fresh, modern jewelry line called the T Collection. It’s the debut collection from Francesca Amfitheatrof, who last year became the company’s first-ever female design director. Amfitheatrof boasts an impressive résumé, with degrees from London’s Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins and stints designing for the innovative Italian fashion house Marni. But she’s also a wife, mother and fan of fine jewelry that’s meant to be worn and enjoyed every day rather than saved for special occasions — the kind of pieces women covet as gifts but also are compelled to buy for themselves. This approach plays out across the T Collection. Inspired by a 19th-century necklace she discovered in the Tiffany & Co. archives and by the energy of American women, Amfitheatrof created a sleek, sophisticated geometric “T” motif that informs each piece in ways that are subtle, strong and clever. Many of the pieces can be worn several ways. Stacking and layering are encouraged, and timelessness is guaranteed. Prices range from $950 to $5,000. 330 NorthPark Center, Dallas, 214-378-9800; The Galleria Dallas, 13350 Dallas Parkway, Dallas, 972-458-2800. www.tiffany.com. Read more
