If you haven’t figured out – I like food and who doesn’t like freebies, so it is a match made in heaven when I find out about good food that is free. When I found out one of those restaurants that I have been hankering to go to since its opening Screen Door just announced that it will have First Mondays Freebies, I did the dance of joy. The first Monday of the month the eatery will test out new creations with a two-course offering for FREE! You just have to make reservations – although you can still order off the menu, why would you when you can taste something new for free!

The first offering is this Monday, Feb. 7 when the following plates will be served: Fried Gulf Oysters Rockefeller, Brother Thelonius Braised Pork Shoulder, and Texas Sorghum-Lacquered Chicken Thigh and Green Papaya Salsa Sandwiches.  I think it is time to plan a girlfriend lunch Monday (to celebrate the Super Bowl!)

If you need a little more enticement, here’s how the restaurant describes its culinary view: “Where modern culinary wisdom and decades of tried and true tradition blend. The menu takes you back to the porch of decades ago and introduces you to new generations of dishes that think in fresh ways about southern cuisine.”

Do you need more convincing?
