It's that time of the year already, I can hardly believe that it is spring break. 5 full days of sleeping in and staying up late preparing your body and mind for the summer! I am too excited and needless to say my kiddos are too!
Generally we reserve our big vacations for the summer and take a small minication during spring break. It helps to eliminate the travel headaches and gives us more time to save for our big stay during the summer. Last year with all the changes in the economy we had our first staycation. Not only was it cost effective I found that we spent more time together because we were close to home. Here are few great ideas for moms and dads who are choosing to stay in the area for spring break this year, I promise you will get alot of bang for your buck!
1. Great Wolf Lodge- Great Wolf offers a variety of packages for the spring starting s low as 189 per night, that includes entrance into the waterpark. This is a family vacation dream with an indoor and outdoor waterpark, spas for adults and children and games that are played throughout the resort. They also have nightly activities for kids such as storytime. A real value for the money
2. SeaWorld San Antonio- Although San Antonio is a bit of a drive, it's well worth the gas spent to visit Sea World. Most hotels close to the theme park are relatively reasonable, and offer continential breakfasts and passes to the park at a discount. Not only does San Antonio hold Sea World they are also home to the Alamo, and the Riverwalk both great places to visit with your kids. History and fun all in one makes San Antonio a great place to spend spring break.
3. Six Flags Over Texas- I am not a big theme park person but I did enjoy Six Flags Over Texas last year for our staycation. There are two main reasons to go in the spring, 1. It's not nearly as hot as summer and 2. It's cheaper with all tickets being offered for kids prices. Six Flags is loads of fun with rollercoasters, shows and loads of games.
4. Fort Worth Zoo- The Fort Worth Zoo has gained national recognition in the US ranking number 5 amongst top zoos in the nation. It is a wonderful exhibition for your kids with wildlife exhibits and animal attractions. As an added bonus the zoo offers half price Wednesdays and is open from 10am- 4pm daily. Not too far from the zoo there is a park and train ride for kids which makes for a great playdate and picnic with family and friends.
Those are just a few major attractions we have in our midst, there are many others such as the Children's Museum of Naure and Science, Botanical Gardens, Dallas Nature Center, your local library and I could go on and on. Dallas/Fort Worth is a wonderful place to raise your kids and provides an awesome opportunity to vacation every day of the year!
Make it a great Mommy Day
