'How I Became a Pirate’ plays at Dallas Children’s Theater

We’re in favor of anything that involves sword-fighting, eye patches, adventures at sea and people yelling arrrggh. So we’re already fans of How I Became a Pirate, which opens Friday at Dallas Children’s Theater. The musical, based on the book by Melinda Long, is the story of a boy who joins a band of pirates. He learns how to eat, talk and act like them. And he learns that when you’re a pirate, nobody makes you eat vegetables or go to bed — but then, nobody reads you a bedtime story or kisses you goodnight, either. The show is appropriate for kids age 4 and older. Afterward, you can meet the pirate cast.Read more
