'A Lone Star Christmas Carol’

It is, perhaps, the most cherished literary tale surrounding the Christmas season. But that doesn’t mean that Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol can’t use a little Texan spice and sass. Enter North Texas’ Gary Taylor and Gary Moody, who have injected more than a bit of the American Southwest into the familiar story of ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future. Fort Worth’s Circle Theatre will begin previews Nov. 19-21 for A Lone Star Christmas Carol, with its official run kicking off with the evening performance Nov. 21 — and extending through Dec.19. Tickets: $10-$30. At Circle Theatre, 230 W. Fourth St., Fort Worth. 817-877-3040; www.circletheatre.com.

ABBA Mania

For those who happened to miss ABBA in its disco prime, here’s your chance to catch one of the best ABBA tribute bands. ABBA Mania has four members, just like the wildly popular original act, and they go out of their way to get close to letter perfect in mimicking every move and soaring chorus of such classics as Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, and Waterloo among many others. ABBA Mania sings out 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at Bass Hall, Fort Worth. Tickets: $22-$53. 817-212-4280; www.basshall.com.
