Hey, Bud! Catfish King is one of my favorites. Excellent fried catfish and relish. But they're all east of Fort Worth. Why are none close by? — Dan, Bedford
I've stopped at the Catfish King in Waxahachie (now closed), and at the old one in Denton. There's a David Beard's Catfish & Seafood in Azle, originally from the same corporate parent. It's sort of an East Texas phenomenon, but Longview-based The Catch is proving that East Texas catfish works everywhere. (For fast-food catfish, the Lisa's Chicken restaurants are popular.)
Hey, Bud! We book reservations on the OpenTable.com app all the time, but I noticed some restaurants aren't listed. How come? — Andrea, Fort Worth
OpenTable.com is a great way to find nearby restaurants or book a future table, but it doesn't find everything. That old standby Yelp.com now books reservations, too, and that's where to book Rise nº3 Souffle or Saint-Emilion Restaurant. Search Yelp for “Restaurants — Reservations.”
Never miss a local story.
Hey, Bud! Is Fred's Downtown Philly reopening on South Hulen Street? — Benjamin, waiting on South Hulen Street
Amazingly, yes. The familiar Dallas-area Philly cheesesteak chain closed and a burger shop was planned, but Fred's is back for another try. (It's a thriving success in much of DFW, but South Hulen isn't exactly Philly country.)
