Here’s the latest from Bernard Tronche on Paris 7th, his new metropolitan French restaurant a few blocks east of Saint-Emilion: “Paris 7th will open with our Saint-Emilion menu, prices and chairs as well as the same friendly faces. We will then spruce up Saint-Emilion and reopen in a month or two.” Watch for the Saint shift in mid-March.
Hey, Bud! Is there someplace to go for Valentine’s if you don’t have a reservation?
Chef Point Cafe, the convenience store-restaurant in Watauga featured on food TV shows, is taking a call-ahead seating list for Valentine’s night. The menu features hailbut, prime rib, duck, a bacon-Gouda-stuffed New York strip and the familiar pepper jack-crab-stuffed pork chop or chicken, with the stuffed-mushroom “whatnots.”
Hey, Bud! Has Szechuan Chinese changed?
No! Owner Herman Liu turned 70 and retired from daily chores, but the regular staff and servers are still in place at Fort Worth’s most enduring Chinese restaurant. (The family did sell the Cityview location but still checks in on that owner, I’m told.) The hot-and-sour soup is Fort Worth’s best treatment for a cold that doesn’t require a co-pay.
