Time flies when you’re floating in the Trinity River and watching music at Panther Island, doesn’t it? Doesn’t seem like that long ago that the first Rockin’ the River concert series occurred, and now the Trinity River Vision Authority has announced the lineup for season five.
The series, which has been fertile ground for DFW.com party pics, begins June 11. All very summery: Watch the music from the river bank (bring your own blanket or chairs), or watch it from the river itself as you float on inner tubes.
July 2 will be Parrothead theme night, with headliner Landsharks — a Jimmy Buffett cover band (they’ve even played with Jummy Buffett) — with after-party band Shotgun Friday.
Although rain has been a factor in previous years, the addition of The Shack at Panther Island Pavilion means that there won’t be any rain-induced cancellations.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Headliners go on at 6:45 on the Coors Waterfront Stage. After-party bands begin playing at 8:30 p.m. on the southshore stage. Shaded seating will be available at the Coors Riverfront Ice House. Admission is free.
The schedule (headliners are listed first):
July 30: To be announced with Casey Berry
Rockin’ the River is presented by Andrews Distributing Company and Coors Light. It is sponsored by North Texas Marine, Backwoods Fort Worth, Margaritaville, 95.9 The Ranch, DFW.com, Pepsi, and produced by the Trinity River Vision Authority.
