Texas Motor Speedway has become known for its outlandish concession items that add to the fan experience.
Past races have included over-the-top offerings ranging from bacon milk shakes to bacon cotton candy. But a new item for this weekend’s AAA Texas 500 is more on the simpler side of things.
TMS will celebrate Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s final Fort Worth race with the “JR88” pretzel that features two 4-ounce soft pretzels shaped into Earnhardt Jr.'s iconic No. 88.
“We wanted to come up with an item that honors him while also fueling up Dale's loyal Junior Nation,” said Lincoln Engstrom, executive chef of Levy Restaurants . “This item proved to be an ideal fit and we foresee these pretzels selling fast.”
Never miss a local story.
The Dale Earnhardt Jr. pretzels will cost $10 and be served in a specially branded “JR88” box that includes bacon-beer cheese and spicy brown mustard.
The JR pretzels will only be available at this weekend's AAA Texas 500 and will be for sale at concourse stands outside Gate 4.
Whether Earnhardt Jr. will be in Victory Lane on Sunday remains to be seen, but his presence will be felt throughout the massive speedway. In addition to the pretzels, TMS will also feature his No. 88 emblazoned across the back of the 12-story tall Big Hoss TV for everyone driving on I-35W to see as they travel to and from the races all weekend.
TMS president Eddie Gossage will also present Earnhardt with three “unique” gifts during Friday evening's tribute, which essentially kicks off the track's celebration of NASCAR's most popular driver's farewell to Fort Worth.
