Channel surfing: 'Bachelorette' picks her man

The Bachelorette 4: It’s down to the last two guys, but none of this season’s North Texans is among them — the last one standing, Dallas’ Jeremy Anderson, was eliminated last week. In tonight’s two-hour finale, DeAnna Pappas makes her choice between Jesse, the professional snowboarder from Colorado, and Jason (she has a thing for J’s, doesn’t she?), the account executive from Washington state. The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose follows, making for an all-Bachelorette night on ABC. 7 p.m., WFAA/Channel 8

Elvis Mitchell: Under the Influence: The offbeat movie journalist, who was the Star-Telegram’s chief film critic from late 1997 to late 1999, launches this new half-hour interview series in bittersweet fashion: His first guest is director Sydney Pollack, in one of Pollack’s last interviews before he died of cancer on May 26. Pollack’s Tootsie follows. 7 p.m., TCM

Nashville Star: Arlington’s Melissa Lawson continues to steam along here, with the judges last week calling her the best singer on the show. To my ears, she and fellow Texan Gabe Garcia are the purest country singers this season. 8 p.m., KXAS/Channel 5

Moon Machines: As part of "Space Week," Science Channel presents this six-part series (which began Sunday) about the engineering efforts that led to the lunar landing. This episode is about navigation systems. The one-hour episode is followed by The Comet’s Tale, about the history and mystery of comets. 8 p.m., Science Channel (Charter Channel 245, Time Warner 207, DirecTV 284, Dish 193, FIOS 102, U-Verse 258)

The War of the World: Historian Niall Ferguson hosts this three-part look at World War II, beginning with the economic and ethnic issues that helped lead to the war’s beginning. 10 p.m., KERA/Channel 13
