Tonight's highlights include a couple of season premieres, a season finale, a not-quite-season finale and the latest spin of Law & Order's ever-revolving cast door. These are their stories. Chunk-chunk!
Stuff to watch or record
Big Brother: 'Til Death Do You Part: Tonight's episode is scheduled to winnow things down to a final two, and the way the nuttiness level has dropped in recent weeks, odds are good that at least one of the finalists will be relatively nice -- and relatively dull. 7 p.m., KTVT/Channel 11
39th Annual GMA Dove Awards: Often referred to as "the Gospel Grammys," these awards -- telecast live for the first time since 2002 -- honor the best in Christian and gospel music. Scheduled performers and presenters include some familiar names (Amy Grant, North Texas' Kirk Franklin) and a few minor surprises (such as American Idol alumni Mandisa, Phil Stacey and Chris Sligh). Beginning at 6 a.m., Gospel Music Channel will air a full day of Doves-oriented programming leading up to this. 7 p.m., Gospel Music Channel (Charter Channel 251, Time Warner 145, DirecTV 338, FIOS 194. Not available on Dish or U-Verse)
Secrets of the Dead: The seventh season of the forensic anthropology series begins with Aztec Massacre, in which the discovery of a mass grave leads to a re-examination of the conflict between the Aztecs and the Spanish conquistadors -- and to some evidence nearly guaranteed to make you go ewwww. 7 p.m., KERA/Channel 13
American Idol: We're down to the final six, which allows for these hourlong results shows to feel even more padded. Wonder if Ryan Seacrest's revelation of the results will be as byzantine as it was last week? 8 p.m., KDFW/Channel 4
National Geographic's Strange Days on Planet Earth: Despite the title, this isn't about much of tonight's TV lineup, but it's the second-season premiere of this series, which tonight examines the global consequences of overfishing. 8 p.m., KERA/Channel 13
Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious: It's the second-season finale, and I care about as much as I did about the first-season finale, which is to say ... not at all. 8 p.m., KDAF/Channel 33
Inside a Cult: With all the national headlines about the recently raided polygamist sect near San Angelo, National Geographic Channel moved this special, originally scheduled for May. This is an inside look at the New Mexico-based Strong City cult and its leader, Michael Travesser, a 66-year-old self-proclaimed Messiah who predicted that the world would come to an end last October. 8 p.m., NGC
Law & Order: It's yet another changing of the Law & Order guard as Anthony Andersonjoins the cast as Detective Kevin Bernard, and Jesse L. Martin prepares to exit, after nine seasons as Detective Ed Green. 9 p.m., KXAS/Channel 5
Men in Trees: This charmingly eccentric romantic comedy-drama is about to get bumped from the schedule again. According to various reports, this is the last episode till late May (at best). 9 p.m., WFAA/Channel 8
