DALLAS —A man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of killing a 20-year-old art institute student in September, police said.

The man, identified as Daniel Willyam, 26, was being held at the Lew Sterrett Justice Center and bond has been withheld, police said Wednesday in a statement.

He has been charged with murder, police said.

He is accused of killing Samantha Michelle Nance, 20, who was found in her apartment in the 9000 block of Marksville Drive. Nance was stabbed to death with an unknown cutting tool, according to the police report.

She had been a student at the Art Institute of Dallas, police said.

Police later searched an apartment shared by Willyam and 20-year-old Nathan Shuck, Nance's boyfriend. They are also art institute students.

Nance's tearful mother, Cynthia, told reporters Wednesday that her daughter had much to live for.

Online jail records did not show whether Willyam had obtained an attorney.
