A man and a woman were found dead, both shot multiple times, early Monday at a home in southeast Dallas, police said.

Officers responded at 12:20 a.m. to a burglar alarm call in the 700 block of Jonelle Avenue, said Senior Cpl. Janice Crowther, police spokeswoman.

The neighborhood is northwest of the intersection of North Jim Miller Road and U.S. 175, also called the C.F. Hawn Freeway.

Officers found the man on the front porch and the woman inside the house, Crowther said.

"It appears that the front door was kicked in and the owner confronted the suspects on the porch where he was shot," Crowther said in a news release. "It is believed that robbery/drugs were the motive in this incident."

The victims' names were unavailable at 8 a.m. because their families had not yet been notified, said a staffer at the Dallas County medical examiner's office.
