Northwest school district cargo vans with video gear stolen

Two Northwest school district maintenance vans full of cameras, digital video recorders and tools were stolen this weekend from the support services building in Fort Worth.

Eleven other vans and trucks had minor damage, including broken windows and locks, Northwest spokeswoman Lesley Weaver said.

District officials estimated the loss at more than $100,000 but were still finishing up a list of what was stolen. Northwest had surveillance cameras in the area, but officials learned Monday morning that they hadn't been working.

One of the stolen cargo vans is a white 2005 Ford SD350, Texas exempt license plate 881-060, with the district's logo and the number "15" painted on the side. The other is a white 2006 Ford E250, Texas exempt license plate 213-866, with the district's logo and the number "17" painted on the side.

In addition to the video equipment, the thieves took drills, air-conditioning equipment and other maintenance tools. Three navy blue district maintenance jackets were also stolen. The jackets had the names Randy Allen, Ty Hairrell and Kevin Monroe sewn onto the chests.
