"Please Don’t Read This Blog ...
... because this technically makes you a witness if the BcS decides to sue for defamation of character. And they might by the time I am done with them.I hate the BcS.I hate BcS coordinator Mike Slive.I hate the Big 12.I hate the Big Ten.I hate the Rose Bowl.I hate Ohio State and Illinois.Who else do I hate?Oh yeah, I hate the Big 12 commissioner whose name I will not mention because he is such a nonfactor.I hate the BcS standings.I hate the American Football Coaches Association and its spineless members who say they hate the current system but do nothing to change it.I hate the university ADs.I hate BcS Daddy Roy Kramer.I hate the university presidents.I hate the power conferences.I hate the Orange Bowl. I hate Orange Bowl executive director Eric Poms. And I really hate Kansas."I blogged this almost two years ago, in a fit of alumni rage after my Mizzou Tigers (11-2) were not "invited" to a BcS bowl despite being ranked higher in the final BcS standings than Illinois (9-3) and Kansas (11-1) — both of whom they beat — and three other teams that gobbled up invites.
I had big plans back then to change this college football world, launching what I called Operation Give Them Hell. My vehicle for bringing this fraudulent system to its knees were emails, where I provided my faithful readers the email address of one of the principle butt-kissers/enablers of a system that I honestly believe is slowly sucking the soul out of college football. Also provided were a few talking points to enable angry readers to vent appropriately.
We admittedly petered away quickly, my righteous indignation feeling wasted against this sham of a system for determining an actual national champion. Because everybody seems to watch anyway.
I have been rethinking my plan lately, though, as TCU and Boise State march deeper into this season with what should be a chance for a national championship. Realists realize chances of both schools being invited into this exclusive little party are small, and almost nonexistent for either being invited to the biggest of big money games.
Horned Frog fans will say, "Who cares about Boise State?" Broncos fans will say, "Well, who cares about TCU?" And Longhorn fans will say, "Are we really talking about this?"
Except, one year ago, it was the SadHorns who were in the same position, justifiably complaining about the Sooners stealing what should have been their spot in the fake NC.
The fact is the laundry list of teams, players, coaches and fans who get jobbed every single season does nothing but grow. And I know the dark place where Horned Frog fans, or Bronco fans, or some fans are going this season when this system fails again. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself talking crazy at your computer. And I challenge you not to come up with a longer hate list than mine if Boise jumps your team, or if your team goes undefeated and has no chance of an NC.
