Woman who cried rape in Arlington slaying is released until appeal

Star-Telegram Staff Writer

Tracy Roberson was released from jail Thursday on a $25,000 appeal bond, three days after being sentenced to a five-year prison term for her role in the December 2006 shooting death of her lover, Devin LaSalle.

Roberson will be free on the bond set by state District Judge Louis Sturns until her appeal is decided, said Jill Davis, her attorney.

Jurors convicted Roberson of involuntary manslaughter, believing the prosecution's assertions that her husband was moved to shoot LaSalle when his wife cried that she was being raped. A grand jury did not indict Roberson's husband, Darrell Roberson, who found LaSalle and his wife embracing in a truck parked in front of the Robersons' south Arlington home. The Robersons have moved to Frisco.

Davis said her client, a mother of three girls, plans to attend her eldest daughter's high school graduation ceremony June 6.
